Swimming

Splish! Splash!

During weeks 6 and 7 Year 3 have been attending swimming lessons at Aquabliss Seven Hills. The students learn a variety of swimming skills as well as essential water safety knowledge in a fun yet challenging environment.

Challenge:List some of the water safety skills you learnt during swimming OR Tell us what your favourite water activity is.

 Student Blog:

On the 10th of November Kindergarten  Year 1, 2, 3 and 4 began swimming lessons. We learnt new strokes and survival tips in the water. We did back stroke, freestyle and also torpedoes. Some people got to do torpedo races. Another fun jump we learnt was the pin drop into the big pool.

There were 6 groups a, b, c, d, e, and f. The teachers were all so nice to us and gave us great tips and advice about our swimming. We went to swimming everyday for 2 weeks. We will miss going. We loved it very much!!

    1. Hi ANgelina,
There was a rule at the centre, no photos allowed. So you will just have to remember what it was like.

  2. Hi Mrs Standring I loved swimming but I missed on the last lesson. The teachers were very nice indeed and on the blog I noticed you used a thingy that we talked about in silent reading time and started with the letter O

    1. Do you mean - ONOMATOPOEIA!!!!
a word that resembles or suggests the source of the sound that it describes.
Can you think of any other words that do the same thing?

  3. HI Mrs Standring I just typed a big long comment but it mysteriously isn't here. I only got to go to swimming once and luckily it was Year Three that I got to see. I am glad all the children enjoyed it. I love swimming and think it is really important that children feel safe and can enjoy the water.

    1. Hi Mrs Misek,
I agree it is very important for children to feel safe in the water. I also learnt how important it is to try swimming with your goggle off as well as on and swimming in deep water.

    1. That is a very important lesson to learn Blake. Even when you are a competent swimmer it is important to be supervised by an adult.
